Description
The Yerevan State Puppet Theater named after Hovhannes Tumanyan is a unique cultural institution located in the heart of the capital of Armenia - Yerevan. The theater, founded on June 1, 1935, is named after the outstanding Armenian poet, writer and public figure Hovhannes Tumanyan. The artistic director of the theater is Ruben Babayan.
The theater's first performance, "The Dog and the Cat", was staged on July 5, 1935, under the direction of Hasmik Gyozalyan, a graduate of the Sergei Obraztsov Theater School-Studio. Since then, the theater has come a long way in development, despite its temporary closure in 1950 and subsequent resumption of activities in 1957. In 1975, the theater moved to its current location - lower floors of a residential building (architects R. Hayrapetyan, S. Zargaryan), designed for 375 seats.
The theater has a Pavlos Boroyan Theater Puppet Museum, which allows visitors to immerse themselves in the history of puppet art. The theater offers a variety of performances for all ages, providing a high level of artistic performance and professionalism.
For the convenience of visitors, the schedule and playbill of performances can be found on our website. You can buy tickets online on our website. We recommend that you familiarize yourself with the repertoire in advance to choose the performances that interest you most.
