Description

Located in the center of Yerevan, the Aram Khachaturian Grand Concert Hall is an outstanding example of Armenian architectural heritage. Designed by the famous architect Alexander Tamanyan and completed by his son Gevorg, the hall is a unique combination of winter and summer halls with two amphitheaters and separate stages.

The building, which won a Gold Medal at the International Exhibition in Paris in 1937, was opened in 1953 and has been modernized several times since then. In 1979, the hall was named after the great composer Aram Khachaturian, and in 1981-1983, a large-scale reconstruction was carried out, including the installation of new seats and modern stage equipment.

Today, the hall seats 1,300 spectators and is the center of cultural life in Armenia. In front of the building, there is a monument to Aram Khachaturian, which harmoniously complements the architectural ensemble of France Square.
