Opera and Ballet Theatre named after A. A. Spendiaryan
Dikran Chukhajyan’s “Arshak II”, the first Armenian national opera, invites viewers to the A. A. Spendiaryan Opera and Ballet Theater. Completed in 1868, this work was a significant contribution to the musical culture of Armenia and remains relevant to this day. The libretto, written by Italian poet and playwright Tovmas Terzian, belongs to the lyric-dramatic genre, which gives the opera a special emotional depth.
The A. A. Spendiaryan Opera and Ballet Theater, located in the heart of Yerevan, is known for its majestic architectural style and excellent acoustics. This is an ideal venue for staging such a significant work. The musical direction is provided by Donato Renzetti from Italy, and the baton is held by Harutyun Arzumanyan. Stage director Jean-Romain Vesperini from France adds European sophistication to the production, while the scenography and animation by Arsen Torosyan create a unique atmosphere.
