About event

The mesmerizing beauty of ancient music will envelop you on February 29 at 19:00 at the Komitas House of Chamber Music. Ensemble "Tagaran" will introduce you to the plays of great composers and open the doors to a time when music was an art inherited from generation to generation.

Under the leadership of Honored Cultural Worker of the Republic of Armenia Sedrak Yerkanyan and conductor-composer Grigor Arakelyan, the Tagaran ensemble I have prepared two parts of the program that will immerse you in the world of intricate arrangements and exquisite melodies.

The first part includes works by such geniuses as Johann Sebastian Bach, Antonio Vivaldi, Jean-Baptiste Lully, Henry Purcell and Jean-Philippe Rameau. The overture from the Easter Oratorio, the concerto for two oboes, the suite from the opera "Armide", the chaconne and "The Savages" promise a journey into the world of elegance and beauty of early music.

The second part will present you the works of famous Armenian composers. Grigor Arakelyan will present his work “Paintings of the 5th century”, based on the sharakans of Mesrop Mashtots and Movses Khorenatsi. Great Komitas will delight you with his “Mushsky shoror” and a number of country folk songs. And this magnificent evening will end with his “Scherzo”.

The Tagaran ensemble is known for its stunning performances of ancient music. Grigor Arakelyan brilliantly arranged and instrumented the works for this ensemble so that every note penetrates your soul.
